Schouler Park in downtown North Conway will be the site of the 2014 -911 Commemorative Service.   This brief service will be preceded by members of the North Conway, American Legion Post 95 and Steve Cameron, a retired firefighter and current Conway PD Dispatcher, distributing free American Flags in the greater downtown North Conway area.

Flags will be distributed between 846-1003 am representing the times of the four terrorist attacks on the United States. These attacks occurred at 846 North Tower – World Trade Center, 903 South Tower- World trade Center, 937 at the Pentagon and finally 1007 in Shanksville, Pennsylvania.

At 1003 am the Rev. Gilman Healey [USAF vet.] and pastor of the North Conway, First Church of Christ Congregational will begin the service with a moment of silence followed by the ringing of a bell four times by American legion Adjutant David Haskell, recognizing the four crash sites. Rev. Healy will then provide a prayer followed by a member of North Conway Fire Department, Conway Police Department, EMT and a civilian each laying a flower at the base of the United States Flag representing the loss of life of their counterparts during the four attacks. The ceremony will conclude with the playing of Taps by Kennett High School Bugler, Finn Nuseaum.

All community members are welcome and urged to attend this very brief commemorative ceremony honoring the losses that incurred on and since September 11th, 2001.
