Conway, NH – On August 6th, 2016, the Carroll County Coalition for Public Health is working with the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services to conduct an emergency preparedness exercise in Conway NH. Don’t be alarmed if you see a helicopter in the area landing near the Kennett Middle School on August 6th; this is a part of a learning exercise for emergency managers and public health agencies across the State, occurring on this day. This exercise will take place not just in our area, but also in each of the other 12 NH Public Health Regions.
The purpose of the exercise is for emergency partners to practice responding to a public health emergency such as a widespread outbreak of disease. In the event of an actual outbreak affecting Carroll County, citizens might be directed to go to a Point of Dispensing location near them. For northern Carroll County, the Kennett Middle School gym would be this location. The exercise is not open to the public
Some of the participants in the exercise on August 6th include NH DHHS, Homeland Security Emergency Management, 13 Public Health Networks, Medical Reserve Corps, Community Emergency Response Team, Civil Air Patrol, Conway Fire Department, Conway Police Department, NH Disaster Behavioral Health Response Team, NH National Guard, Metropolitan Medical Response Team, the NH Hospital Association, and others.
