AYOTTE TO HOLD TOWN HALL MEETING IN CONWAY THURSDAY

U.S. SENATOR KELLY AYOTTE (R-NH) WILL BE IN CONWAY THURSDAY EVENING TO HOLD A PUBLIC TOWN MEETING.

THE JUNIOR SENATOR FROM NEW HAMPSHIRE SAYS RESIDENTS IN THE STATE ARE RIGHTLY CONCERNED ABOUT THE FISCAL CONDITION OF THE COUNTRY – AND SHE WANTS TO TALK ABOUT THAT.

SHE PLANS ON STARTING OFF WITH A 15 MINUTE PRESENTATION TO “SHOW PEOPLE THE NUMBERS” AND THEN SHE’LL ANSWER QUESTIONS FROM MEMBERS OF THE AUDIENCE.

AYOTTE SAYS SHE’S CONCERNED ABOUT ACROSS THE BOARD CUTS PLANNED NEXT YEAR IN MILITARY AND DOMESTIC SPENDING BECAUSE A SUPERCOMMITTEE COULD NOT AGREE ON CUTS AFTER THE DEBT CEILING WAS RAISED.

ONE OF HER CONCERNS IS DRASTIC CUTS TO MILITARY SPENDING COULD CAUSE A SO-CALLED “HOLLOW” FORCE. SHE SAYS ONE WAY TO PREVENT THAT IS TO NOT FILL ALL FEDERAL JOBS.

AYOTTE SAYS THERE A LOT OF AREAS THAT HAVEN’T BEEN LOOKED INTO TO REDUCE WASTEFUL GOVERNMENT SPENDING, INCLUDING ACTING ON REPORTS FROM THE GENERAL ACCOUNTING OFFICE.

SHE SAYS SHE KNOWS PEOPLE IN NEW HAMPSHIRE UNDERSTAND FAMILIES AND BUSINESSES LIVE WITHIN THEIR MEANS AND HER CONSTITUENTS ARE CONCERNED ABOUT CONTINUED BORROWING FROM CHINA – AND WHAT SHE CALLS THE OVERALL “SPEND-A-THON” IN WASHINGTON.

THE DOORS FOR THE TOWN HALL MEETING OPEN AT 4:45 P.M. THURSDAY AT KENNETT MIDDLE SCHOOL, 176 MAIN STREET IN CONWAY. THE MEETING STARTS AT 5:30 P.M. AND WILL RUN UNTIL 6:30 P.M.
