BARTLETT JACKSON FOOD PANTRY BENEFIT MONDAY

by Christian Mower on December 10, 2011

THE BARTLETT JACKSON FOOD PANTRY TYPICALLY PROVIDES FOR ABOUT 15 TO 20 FAMILIES A MONTH – AND RECENTLY GAVE OUT MORE THAN 25 THANKSGIVING BASKETS.

THE PANTRY DISTRIBUTES FOOD EVERY SATURDAY FROM 10 A.M. UNTIL NOON AT THE BAPTIST CHURCH IN GLEN.

BARTLETT RESIDENT MEG MURPHY IS ONE OF ABOUT 8 VOLUNTEERS WHO WORK AT THE FOOD PANTRY. SHE SAYS SHE’S MOTIVATED TO HELP BECAUSE SHE’S CONCERNED THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO DON’T HAVE ENOUGH FOOD TO FEED THEIR FAMILIES IN BARTLETT AND JACKSON – EVEN IN A SOCIETY WHERE SOME PEOPLE HAVE SO MUCH.

AND SHE POINTS OUT THE HOLIDAYS CAN BE A TOUGHER TIME FOR FAMILIES WHO ARE ALREADY STRUGGLING.

MURPHY SAYS SHE’S GRATEFUL FOR PEOPLE AND BUSINESSES WHO CONTRIBUTE TO THE PANTRY – AND FOR A SPECIAL DEAL STARTING MONDAY AT 4:30 P.M. – THAT’S WHEN JOSEPH’S SPAGHETTI SHED ON ROUTE 302 IN GLEN WILL DONATE 20 PER CENT OF ITS PROCEEDS – BOTH DINE-IN AND TAKEOUT – UP UNTIL 9 P.M. – TO THE FOOD PANTRY AS PART OF ITS “DINE TO DONATE” PROGRAM.

A BOX WILL ALSO BE AVAILABLE FOR DONATIONS OF NON-PERISHABLE AND NON-EXPIRED FOOD ITEMS.

MURPHY SAYS SHE’LL BE THERE.
