Just hours after announcing Friday he was forming an exploratory committee for a possible run against U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen in New Hampshire, former U.S. Sen. Scott Brown of Massachusetts – a Republican – visited the valley area and the North Country this weekend.
Longtime New Hampshire House member and Bartlett Selectman Republican Gene Chandler says he escorted Brown on a walking tour on Route 16 in North Conway Saturday that ended with Brown talking to some members of the public at the Eastern Slope Inn.
After dinner, Chandler says Brown headed north Saturday night, making stops in Gorham – then meeting with North Country New Hampshire State Sen. John Gallus and stopping at the Northland Dairy Bar in Berlin Sunday, before continuing on to stops in Errol, Colebrook, Lancaster and Littleton.
Chandler says he thinks Brown was well received in North Conway and says he was amazed at how many people recognized him.
Although Brown has only formed an exploratory committee at this point, Chandler assumes – and hopes – it will lead to an official announcement in a couple of weeks that Brown will be a candidate for the U.S. Senate.
Published reports indicate Brown has a home in Rye, New Hampshire. He is married to longtime Boston television news personality Gail Huff.
