A Car accident in Casco Thursday morning started a fire and left the driver seriously injured. According to the Cumberland county Sheriffs Office 26-year-old Ashley McMullan of Naples was headed westbound on Route 302 when her vehicle left the roadway, struck a utility pole, and rolled over coming to a rest on its’ side. The impact with the pole dislodged the high-tension power lines which ignited a small fire. A good Samaritan extinguished the fire as others helped Ashley and her two children escape the crash. Ashley McMullan and her seven year old son where transported by EMS to Maine Medical Center for non – life threatening injuries while the three year old was treated on scene by Casco EMS and was taken by Life Flight to Maine Medical Center with serious head trauma. Both children were in car seats. The crash remains under investigation and is being reconstructed by the Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Team.
