CHAMBER NAMES FOUR MORE TREASURES

THE MOUNT WASHINGTON VALLEY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE HAS ANNOUNCED FOUR NEW MEMBERS OF ITS PRESTIGIOUS WHITE MOUNTAINS TREASURES GROUP.

EVENT PLANNER CINDY RUSSELL BECAME THE FIRST EXEC. DIRECTOR OF THE ARTS JUBILEE CONCERT SERIES IN 1983. IN THE 1990s SHE FOUNDED MONARCH EVENTS, WHICH SERVES WHITE MOUNTAINS MUSICAL ARTS AND FORMERLY SUPPORTED FIRST NIGHT AND THE VALLEY’S NEW YEAR’S FESTIVAL, CONWAY’S FOURTH OF JULY CELEBRATION, THE POLAR AND BUNNY EXPRESSES, THE EASTER PARADE AND THE NEW HAMPSHIRE BICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION.

ATTORNEY KEN CARGILL IS A PARTNER AT COOPER, CARGILL, CHANT – ATTORNEYS-AT-LAW IN NORTH CONWAY – AND HAS BEEN PRACTICING LAW IN THE VALLEY FOR 25 YEARS. HE HAS SERVED AS MODERATOR FOR CONWAY, SCHOOL MODERATOR IN TAMWORTH – AND AS A BOARD MEMBER OR TRUSTEE FOR NUMEROUS ORGANIZATIONS IN THE VALLEY. HE IS ESPECIALLY RECOGNIZED FOR HIS QUIET AND EFFECTIVE SERVICE AS COUNSEL AND ADVISOR TO THE BOARDS OF MORE THAN 50 NON-PROFITS ORGANIZATIONS.

BAYARD KENNETT MOVED BACK TO THE VALLEY IN 1977 TO MANAGE HIS FAMILY’S REALTY AND LAND HOLDING COMPANIES AND JOINED SEVERAL COMMUNITY BOARDS, INCLUDING CONWAY SELECTMEN, THE CONWAY SCHOOL BOARD, THE CONWAY FIRE DEPARTMENT, HAM ARENA BOARD, MEMORIAL HOSPITAL BOARD AND A REALTY BOARD. HE’S ALSO BEEN A KENNETT HIGH BOOSTER, LITTLE LEAGUE COACH AND FLAG FOOTBALL COACH.

AND PETER PINKHAM BOUGHT THE EASTERN SLOPE INN IN THE 1950S, WAS A FOUNDER OF THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, A SHAREHOLDER AND DIRECTOR AT ATTITASH, SERVED ON THE SCHOOL BOARD, THE BUDGET COMMITTEE, AS A SELECTMAN AND TOWN MODERATOR. HE INVENTED FREE STYLE SKIING, BROUGHT SNOWMAKING TO THE VALLEY, TAUGHT THE JUNIOR PROGRAM AND WORKED TO PROMOTE THE VALLEY BRAND. HE ALSO FOUNDED TWO THEATER GROUPS, IS AN AUTHOR AND OWNS THE OLDEST REAL ESTATE COMPANY IN THE VALLEY.

THE FOUR NEWEST TREASURES WILL BE HONORED AT THE CHAMBER’S ANNUAL DINNER OCT. 30TH.
