CONWAY CANCER WALK RAISES 75K

THE ORGANIZER OF SUNDAY’S AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY MAKING STRIDES AGAINST BREAST CANCER WALK IN NORTH CONWAY SAYS MORE THAN 400 RESIDENTS TURNED OUT FOR THE THREE AND A HALF MILE WALK THROUGH NORTH CONWAY VILLAGE AND WHITAKER WOODS – A NON COMPETITIVE, UNITING EVENT THAT HONORED SURVIVORS OF BREAST CANCER AND EDUCATED PEOPLE ABOUT HOW TO REDUCE THEIR BREAST CANCER RISK.

COMMUNITY EXEC. KATHY METZ SAYS THE EVENT IN NORTH CONWAY RAISED $75,000.

METZ SAYS THE NORTH CONWAY WALK WAS ONE OF FOUR HELD AROUND NEW HAMPSHIRE OCT. 14 – AND FOUR MORE WILL BE HELD SUNDAY, OCT. 21. SHE SAYS WALKERS AND SUPPORTERS CAN BE PROUD THEIR EFFORTS ARE HELPING 2.6 MILLION BREAST CANCER SURVIVORS IN THE U.S. CELEBRATE ANOTHER BIRTHDAY.

METZ SAYS THE MONEY RAISED HELPS PROVIDE RESOURCES AND SUPPORT FOR WOMEN WHO TURN TO THE SOCIETY FOR SUPPORT – ENSURES WOMEN WHO NEED MAMMOGRAMS CAN GET THEM – AND HELPS FUND GROUNDBREAKING RESEARCH TO FIND, PREVENT, TREAT AND CURE BREAST CANCER.

THE STATIONS OF THE MOUNT WASHINGTON RADIO GROUP WERE PROUD SPONSORS OF THE NORTH CONWAY EVENT.

THE TOP FUNDRAISING TEAM – BARTENDERS FOR BETTER ONCOLOGICAL OPTIONS FOR BREAST CARE SERVICES – RAISED MORE THAN $9,500; THE HIGHEST INDIVIDUAL FUNDRAISER ON A TEAM – LISA BB BRUNELLE – RAISED MORE THAN $5,200 – AND THE HIGHEST INDIVIDUAL FUNDRAISER – REBECCA CONNERS – BROUGHT IN $1,500.
