CONWAY DAILY SUN: CONWAY REJECTS LIBRARY INCREASE

by Christian Mower on December 13, 2012

THE CONWAY DAILY SUN SAYS CONWAY SELECTMEN HAVE REJECTED A PROPOSED INCREASE OF NEARLY $19,000 FOR 2013 BUDGET OF THE CONWAY PUBLIC LIBRARY.

THE SUN SAYS THE ACTION OF SELECTMEN TUESDAY MEANS THE LIBRARY’S BUDGET FOR 2013 GOES BACK TO THE SAME LEVEL AS 2012 – TO JUST MORE THAN $456,000.

THE SUN SAYS SELECTMEN VOTED 4-1 TO LEVEL FUND THE BUDGET – AGAINST THE RECOMMENDATION OF LIBRARY TRUSTEES – AFTER INTENSE DEBATE.

THE SUN CITES SELECTMAN MICHAEL DIGREGORIO AS SAYING HE “CAN’T SUPPORT THEIR BUDGET” – AND THAT LIBRARY TRUSTEES TOLD SELECTMEN THEY WILL HAVE MONEY LEFT OVER FOR 2012 BUT THEY SIGNED A CONTRACT WITH FORMER LIBRARY DIRECTOR TARA THOMAS THAT SPENDS MONEY IN 2013 THAT HASN’T EVEN BEEN APPROVED YET.
