CONWAY EMERGENCY RESPONDERS DRILL

by Christian Mower on November 6, 2013

THE CONWAY POLICE DEPARTMENT SAYS TRAINING IS CRITICAL FOR FIRST RESPONDERS TO PROPERLY PREPARE FOR ANY INCIDENT, REGARDLESS OF SIZE.

SGT. GEORGE WALKER SAYS BECAUSE OF THE NEED TO TEST THE ABILITIES OF FIRST RESPONDERS, CONWAY WILL HOLD A MAJOR EMERGENCY RESPONSE DRILL THE MORNING OF SUNDAY, NOV. 17, 2013 ON MILL ST. IN CENTER CONWAY.

DRILL PARTICIPANTS WILL INCLUDE CONWAY POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENTS – AND FIREFIGHTERS FROM NEARBY TOWNS, INCLUDING BARTLETT, JACKSON, MADISON AND FRYEBURG, MAINE. AMBULANCE SERVICES FROM NORTH CONWAY, CONWAY, BARTLETT JACKSON AND FRYEBURG RESCUE WILL ALSO PARTICIPATE.

THE TRAINING SCENARIO – THAT WILL RUN FROM 8 A.M. UNTIL NOON – WILL SIMULATE A LARGE SCALE EMERGENCY THAT DRAWS ON THE RESOURCES OF CONWAY AND SURROUNDING TOWNS THROUGH MUTUAL AID.

DUE TO THE SIZE AND COMPLEXITY OF THE DRILL, MILL ST. IN CENTER CONWAY WILL BE CLOSED DURING THE EXERCISE. LOCAL TRAFFIC ONLY WILL BE ALLOWED ON MILL ST. DURING THE DRILL AND THROUGH TRAFFIC ON BROWNFIELD RD. WILL BE DIVERTED VIA OLD MILL RD. TO ROUTE 302. THROUGH TRAFFIC FOR MILL ST. SHOULD USE OLD MILL RD.
