CONWAY MAN CHARGED WITH ASSAULTING OFFICER

CONWAY POLICE SAY A 39-YEAR-OLD CONWAY MAN IS DUE BACK IN COURT MAY 7, 2013 AFTER HE ALLEGEDLY ASSAULTED A POLICE OFFICER WHO WAS TALKING TO HIM EARLY FRIDAY AFTERNOON AT THE POLICE STATION.

LT. CHRIS PERLEY SAYS ADAM T. MARTINESE OF B ST. WAS AT THE STATION ABOUT 1 P.M.TO FILE A COMPLAINT ABOUT A STALKING ORDER VIOLATION AND WAS TALKING TO CPL. SEAN McGRATH IN THE LOBBY WHEN HE ALLEGEDLY HIT McGRATH WITH HIS FIST. PERLEY SAYS MARTINESES WAS THEN SUBDUED BY McGRATH AND OTHER OFFICERS AND CONTINUED TO STRUGGLE AND FIGHT BEFORE HE WAS TAKEN TO THE CARROLL COUNTY JAIL IN OSSIPEE.

MCGRATH WAS NOT HURT.

PERLEY SAYS THE INCIDENT WAS CAPTURED ON VIDEOTAPE THAT WILL BE USED IN THE CASE.

MARTINESE IS CHARGED WITH RESISTING ARREST AND DISORDERLY CONDUCT – TWO MISDEMEANORS – AND SIMPLE ASSAULT AGAINST A POLICE OFFICER – AN “ENHANCED” MISDEMEANOR CHARGE THAT COULD BRING 5 YEARS IN JAIL, IF CONVICTED.
