CONWAY POLICE STOP ICE CREAM TRUCK; DRIVER SUSPENDED

by Christian Mower on July 11, 2012

CONWAY POLICE SAY A 26-YEAR-OLD MAINE MAN WAS ARRESTED SATURDAY AFTER HE WAS SPOTTED DRIVING AN ICE CREAM TRUCK IN NORTH CONWAY.

LT. CHRIS PERLEY SAYS HE WAS OFF DUTY WHEN AROUND 3 P.M. HE NOTICED AN ICE CREAM TRUCK DRIVING AROUND BIRCH HILL PLAYING MUSIC AND TRYING TO SELL ICE CREAM.

HE CALLED IT IN TO HIS DEPARTMENT AND A UNIFORMED OFFICER RESPONDED.

PERLEY SAYS TOWN LAWS PROHIBIT THE SALE OF ICE CREAM – OR OTHER GOODS – FROM A TRUCK.

PERLEY SAYS THE DRIVER OF THE TRUCK – IDENTIFIED AS ANDREW HARTIG OF RAYMOND – WAS ARRESTED AFTER THE RESPONDING OFFICER DETERMINED HIS LICENSE WAS SUSPENDED IN NEW HAMPSHIRE.

THE ARRESTING OFFICER HAD THE TRUCK TOWED OVER THE STATE LINE TO MAINE SO HARTIG COULD RETRIEVE IT AFTER HE WAS RELEASED.
