by Christian Mower on December 28, 2011

A CONWAY POLICE DISPATCHER SAYS ROADS IN CONWAY WERE ICY WEDNESDAY MORNING BUT TOWN AND STATE CREWS ARE OUT SANDING.

PARKING LOTS AROUND CONWAY WERE SLICK WITH ICE AND SLUSH ON THEM AND THERE WAS CONSIDERABLE PONDING OF WATER, PARTICULARLY ON SECONDARY ROADS.

REPORTS INDICATE A CONWAY POLICE CRUISER GOT STUCK ON AN ICY ROAD SHORTLY AFTER 5 A.M.

NO MAJOR INCIDENTS OR INJURIES HAVE BEEN REPORTED.

LT. CHRIS PERLEY IS URGING DRIVERS TO USE CAUTION AND DRIVE DEFENSIVELY BECAUSE OF THE WEATHER AND THE HIGH VOLUME OF TRAFFIC.

PERLEY SAYS ROADS WERE STILL WET THIS MORNING FROM LAST NIGHT’S HEAVY RAIN – AND SLIPPERY AND ICY IN LOW LYING AREAS.

PERLEY SAYS THE TRAFFIC IN NORTH CONWAY VILLAGE WAS BACKED UP TO THE NORTH BY ABOUT A MILE THIS MORNING.
