by Christian Mower on May 24, 2013

CONWAY SELECTMEN HAVE DECLARED SATURDAY, MAY 25 2013 AS NATIONAL MISSING CHILDREN’S DAY – AND THEY ENCOURAGE EVERYONE TO TAKE 25 MINUTES TO HELP CHILDREN STAY SAFER.

SELECTMEN SIGNED A PROCLAMATION SAYING THEY HAVE DESIGNATED THE DAY AS PART OF THE TOWN’S CONTINUING EFFORTS TO PREVENT THE ABDUCTION AND SEXUAL EXPLOITATION OF CHILDREN.

THEY CITE STATISTICS SHOWING AN ESTIMATED 800,000 CHILDREN ARE REPORTED MISSING EVERY YEAR IN THE U.S. – AND THE DAY IS A SPECIAL TIME TO REMEMBER MISSING CHILDREN – AND GIVE HOPE TO THEIR FAMILIES.

THE PROCLAMATION SAYS THE TOWN OF CONWAY IS PARTNERING WITH THE NATIONAL CENTER FOR MISSING AND EXPLOITED CHILDREN AND ITS SUPPORTERS – AND “URGES PARTICIPATION OF LOCAL GOVERNMENT, LAW ENFORCEMENT AND COMMUNITIES IN THE PROTECTION OF CHILDREN AND EDUCATING CHILDREN ABOUT CHILD ABDUCTION AND SEXUAL EXPLOITATION – AND HOW TO RESPOND AND SEEK HELP FROM LAW ENFORCEMENT, SOCIAL SERVICES AND THE NCMEC.”

THE PROCLAMATION CAN BEEN SEEN ONLINE UNDER GENERAL INFORMATION AND NOTICES ON THE CONWAY WEBSITE AT www.conwaynh.org.
