CONWAY WOMAN CHARGED AFTER HITTING TREE NEAR P.D.

CONWAY POLICE SAY A 59-YEAR-OLD CONWAY WOMAN IS CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF DRUGS OR LIQUOR AFTER SHE CRASHED INTO A TREE NEAR THE POLICE STATION EARLY TUESDAY MORNING.

NORTH CONWAY FIRE CHIEF PAT PREECE SAYS HE RESPONDED JUST AFTER 3 A.M. ALONG WITH HIS RESCUE SQUAD, NORTH CONWAY AMBULANCE, REDSTONE FIRE AND POLICE NEAR THE CORNER OF EASTMAN ROAD AND EAST CONWAY ROAD, WHERE PREECE SAYS A VEHICLE HAD RUN OFF THE ROAD AND CRASHED INTO A WHITE PINE TREE ABOUT 2 FEET IN DIAMETER.

THE DRIVER SUFFERED CUTS AND BRUISES TO HER FACE AND A COMPOUND FRACTURE TO ONE OF HER LEGS.

POLICE IDENTIFIED HER AS KAREN ST. CLAIR OF VFW ROAD. SHE WAS FULLY PACKAGED AT THE SCENE AND TAKEN BY AMBULANCE TO MEMORIAL HOSPITAL IN NORTH CONWAY.

LT. CHRIS PERLEY SAYS ST. CLAIR’S INJURIES WERE SERIOUS BUT NOT LIFE-THREATENING.

THE SUV INVOLVED – A SILVER 2004 GMC UT ENVOY – WAS TOWED AROUND THE BLOCK TO THE POLICE IMPOUND LOT.

A POLICE RECONSTRUCTION TEAM IS INVESTIGATING THE INCIDENT.
