DECEASED ALBANY MAN IDENTIFIED

THE CARROLL COUNTY ATTORNEY HAS CONFIRMED THE IDENTITY OF THE BODY FOUND FRIDAY MORNING AT A RESIDENCE ON MOULTON DR. IN ALBANY.

ROBIN GORDON SAYS SHE HAS CONFIRMED WITH THE CARROLL COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE AND THE MEDICAL EXAMINER THE DECEASED MAN WAS 62-YEAR-OLD RICHARD P. MOULTON OF 5 MOULTON DR.

AN OFFICER FROM THE CARROLL COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE AND CONWAY RESCUE AND AMBULANCE RESPONDED TO MOULTON’S RESIDENCE SHORTLY AFTER 11:30 A.M. FRIDAY AFTER AN EMERGENCY CALL WAS MADE TO 911.

SHERIFF’S OFFICE LT. MIKE SANTUCCIO SAYS NEIGHBORS FOUND MOULTON IN HIS BED – MOULTON WAS REPORTED TO BE UNRESPONSIVE AND NOT BREATHING.

GORDON SAYS MOULTON WAS A CONVICTED FELON WHO AT THE TIME OF HIS DEATH WAS UNDER A SUSPENDED 2 TO 4 YEAR PRISON SENTENCE FOR FELON IN POSSESSION OF A FIREARM.

MOULTON WAS INDICTED BY A GRAND JURY IN MARCH, 2011 ON FELONY CHARGES OF ATTEMPTED MURDER AND TAMPERING WITH WITNESSES OR INFORMANTS AFTER HE ALLEGEDLY STABBED A TENANT OF HIS – RONALD ROUTHIER, THEN 51 – IN FEBRUARY, 2011 AT A HOUSING COMPLEX IN ALBANY IN A DISPUTE OVER ALLEGED NON-PAYMENT OF RENT.

ROUTHIER WAS TREATED AT A HOSPITAL FOR STAB WOUNDS AND RELEASED.

MOULTON WAS TRIED TWICE ON VARIOUS CHARGES BUT NEVER CONVICTED IN CONNECTION WITH THE CASE.

DURING ONE TRIAL, THE JURY DEADLOCKED.

AT THE SECOND TRIAL, THE JURY FOUND MOULTON NOT GUILTY OF ATTEMPTED MURDER AND WITNESS TAMPERING AND DEADLOCKED ON TWO FELONY ASSAULT CHARGES.

GORDON SAYS THE MEDICAL EXAMINER HAS NOT FINISHED THE REPORT BUT MOULTON’S DEATH DOES NOT APPEAR TO BE SUSPICIOUS.
