DITTMEYER CASE INVESTIGATION ONGOING

by Christian Mower on April 24, 2012

ONE YEAR AFTER THE DISAPPEARANCE OF KRISTA DITTMEYER, THE LEAD PROSECUTOR IN THE CASE SAYS THE INVESTIGATION CONTINUES AND POLICE ARE STILL EXAMINING EVIDENCE AND CONDUCTING INTERVIEWS.

IT WAS A YEAR AGO EARLY ON A SATURDAY MORNING THAT CONWAY POLICE FOUND A RUNNING CAR IN A NORTH CONWAY PARKING LOT WITH DITTMEYER’S BABY GIRL ASLEEP IN THE BACK SEAT – BUT NO SIGN OF THE 20-YEAR-OLD DITTMEYER, WHO ATTENDED LAKE REGION HIGH SCHOOL IN NAPLES, MAINE AND HAD FAMILY IN BRIDGTON.

DITTMEYER’S BODY WAS RECOVERED FROM A NEARBY POND A FEW DAYS LATER.

ASSOC. ATTORNEY GENERAL JANE YOUNG OF THE NEW HAMPSHIRE ATTORNEY GENERAL’S OFFICE SAYS HER OFFICE CONTINUES TO INVESTIGATE THE CASE WITH CONWAY POLICE AND THE NEW HAMPSHIRE STATE POLICE.

THE FBI ALSO ASSISTED EARLY ON IN THE INVESTIGATION.

IN MAY OF 2011 YOUNG’S OFFICE ANNOUNCED THE ARREST AND CHARGING OF THREE MEN IN CONNECTION WITH DITTMEYER’S DISAPPEARANCE AND APPARENT MURDER. 29-YEAR-OLD ANTHONY PAPILE OF OSSIPEE IS CHARGED WITH SECOND DEGREE MURDER – 29-YEAR-OLD MICHAEL PETELIS OF OSSIPEE AND 24-YEAR-OLD TREVOR FERGUSON ARE EACH CHARGED WITH A SINGLE COUNT OF CONSPIRACY TO COMMITT ROBBERY.

COURT DOCUMENTS INDICATE YOUNG’S OFFICE BELIEVES DITTMEYER FELL VICTIM TO A DRUG DEAL GONE WRONG. NONE OF THE THREE ARRESTED MEN HAVE BEEN INDICTED IN CONNECTION WITH THE CASE YET, BUT YOUNG SAYS THEY HAVE BEEN HELD SINCE THEIR ARREST AND COULD FACE ADDITIONAL OR UPGRADED CHARGES.

YOUNG SAYS THE CAUSE OF DITTMEYER’S DEATH AND THE RESULTS OF TOXICOLOGY TESTS ON HER BODY HAVE NOT BEEN RELEASED TO PROTECT THE INTEGRITY OF THE INVESTIGATION.

SHE SAYS THE MEN WILL BE BROUGHT TO JUSTICE FOR THE KILLING.
