FIRE CHIEF WARNS OF NEED FOR PERMITS AFTER ILLEGAL WEEKEND BURN

by Christian Mower on April 3, 2012

AFTER RESPONDING TO ANOTHER ILLEGAL FIRE THIS WEEKEND, THE CONWAY FIRE CHIEF IS AGAIN CAUTIONING THAT PERMITS ARE REQUIRED FOR ANY OUTDOOR BURN.

STEVE SOLOMON SAYS HIS DEPARTMENT WAS CALLED TO TRANSVALE ACRES OFF WEST SIDE ROAD SHORTLY AFTER 11 P.M. SATURDAY AFTER SOMEONE REPORTED SEEING A LARGE FIRE ON “G” ROAD.

ON ARRIVAL, FIREFIGHTERS DISCOVERED FOUR INTOXICATED ADULTS BURNING PIECES OF A SHED IN A FIRE THAT WAS ABOUT FIVE FEET ACROSS AND FOUR FEET HIGH.

THE CHIEF SAYS THE FIRE WAS ONLY ABOUT 15 FEET FROM ANOTHER BUILDING.

FIREFIGHTERS PUT THE FIRE OUT AND CONWAY POLICE TOLD THE PEOPLE TO EMPTY THEIR BEERS AND GO HOME.

IT WAS THE FOURTH ILLEGAL BURN CONWAY FIREFIGHTERS RESPONDED TO IN MARCH.
