FOURTH OF JULY HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES

IT’S THE FOURTH OF JULY – INDEPENDENCE DAY – AND HERE ARE SOME ACTIVITIES GOING ON THE VALLEY AREA.

IN CONWAY, THE PARADE STARTS ON WASHINGTON STREET AT 1:30 P.M. LAST MINUTE PARTICIPANTS ARE WELCOME TO JOIN, INCLUDING FLOATS, WALKERS, BIKERS, ANTIQUE CARS AND MILITARY PERSONNEL – AND EVERYONE IN THE PARADE WILL START FORMING UP AROUND 12:45 P.M.

POST-PARADE ACTIVITIES SHIFT TO NORTH CONWAY’S SCHOULER PARK, WHERE AN INDEPENDENCE DAY CEREMONY WILL TAKE PLACE AT 3:45 P.M., FOLLOWED BY ACT ONE DANCE COMPANY AT 4 P.M., CONWAY NATIVE ABBY MILLER’S BAND AT 5:15 PM., POPULAR ROCK BAND DISCOUNT GIGOLOS AT 7:30 P.M. AND FIREWORKS ABOUT 9:30 P.M.

IN BARTLETT, LAST MINUTE REGISTRATIONS FOR THE ANNUAL HELEN HAYES 4TH OF JULY PARADE WILL BE TAKEN STARTING AT 9 A.M. THURSDAY AT PRECINCT PARK. CATEGORIES INCLUDE FLOATS, WALKERS, BICYCLES, ANIMALS, CARS, UNUSUAL AND OTHERS. JUDGING BEGINS PROMPTLY AT 10:30 A.M., THE LINEUP IS AT 10:50 A.M. AND THE PARADE STARTS AT 11 A.M. ON MAIN ST. IN BARTLETT VILLAGE. AWARDS WILL BE GIVEN OUT AT 11:45 A.M. AT HODGKINS PARK AND THE BARBECUE BEGINS AT THE PARK AT NOON. EVERYONE IS INVITED TO BRING BLANKETS AND CHAIRS AND ENJOY THE COMMUNITY CELEBRATION AND A DAY OF FAMILY FUN.

IN JACKSON, THE FOLLOWING EVENTS ARE ON SATURDAY, JULY 6: THE WILDQUACK RIVER FESTIVAL RUNS FROM 7 A.M. UNTIL 3:30 P.M. AT JACKSON VILLAGE PARK. IT’S THE 24TH RUNNING OF THE DUCKS WITH MORE THAN 3,500 RUBBER DUCKIES RACING DOWN THE WILDCAT RIVER. INCLUDES GAMES FOR THE KIDS, A CLOWN, FIVE MINUTES OF FAME AT 1 P.M., A PARADE AT 1:30 P.M. AND THE BIG DUCKS RELEASED AT 1:45 P.M., WITH ALL OTHER DUCKS FOLLOWING AT 2 P.M. THE FIREWORKS DISPLAY STARTS AROUND 9 P.M. IN THE JACKSON VILLAGE AREA WITH THE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE OFFERING POPCORN, FRIED DOUGH, CORN DOGS AND FIREFIGHTERS SELLING GLOW NECKLACES AND T-SHIRTS.

IN MOULTONBOROUGH, THE THEME FOR THE PARADE IS “HOME OF THE BRAVE.” ALL FLOATS, DECORATED BICYCLES, OLD CARS, OLD TRUCKS AND HORSES ARE WELCOME TO PARTICIPATE. THE LINEUP STARTS AT 10:15 A.M. THURSDAY AT BLAKE RD. AND THE PARADE STEPS OFF 45 MINUTES LATER, AT 11 A.M. AND PROCEEDS TO THE LIONS CLUB ON ROUTE 109, WHERE A COMPLIMENTARY COOKOUT WILL BE HELD.

IN OSSIPEE, THE PARADE LINEUP IS AT 9 A.M. THURSDAY AT THE JUNCTION OF DORRS CORNER AND MOULTONVILLE RD., IT STARTS AT 10 A.M. AND IS FOLLOWED BY THE FAMILY FUN FAIR AT OSSIPEE CONCERNED CITIZENS AT DORR’S CORNER, CENTER OSSIPEE, INCLUDING A GIANT YARD SALE AND ACTIVITIES, FOOD AND CONTESTS. CRUISE NIGHT STARTS AT THE YANKEE SMOKEHOUSE IN WEST OSSIPEE AT 5 P.M. AND FIREWORKS START AT 9:30 P.M.

IN MAINE, IN FRYEBURG, THE PARADE STEPS OFF FROM THE FRYEBURG ACADEMY MAIN BUILDING AT 10 A.M. THURSDAY AND PROCEEDS TO BRADLEY PARK, WHERE OTHER ACTIVITIES WILL FOLLOW.

IN BRIDGTON, EXPECT TRAFFIC DELAYS THROUGH 10:30 A.M. THURSDAY BECAUSE OF THE RUNNING OF THE TRADITIONAL “FOUR ON THE FOURTH.”
