FRYEBURG MAINE FAIR SEC. VERY PLEASED

THE SECRETARY OF THE FRYEBURG, MAINE FAIR SAYS SHE’S VERY PLEASED WITH THIS YEAR’S TURNOUT AND FEELS FORTUNATE TO HAVE HAD SEVERAL DAYS OF NICE WEATHER TO END THE FAIR AFTER A RAINY START.

JUNE HAMMOND SAYS SUNDAY’S CROWD WAS A RECORD FOR THAT DAY WITH JUST MORE THAN 28,000 PAID ATTENDEES.

ATTENDANCE WAS STRONG ON MONDAY FOR WOODSMEN’S DAY AND GOOD DURING THE NICE WEATHER STRETCH THURSDAY THROUGH SUNDAY.

THE NUMBER OF TOTAL ATTENDEES WAS JUST UNDER 161,000 PEOPLE. TOTAL ATTENDANCE LAST YEAR WAS JUST UNDER 173,000, A DIFFERENCE OF ABOUT 12,000.

FRYEBURG POLICE CHIEF PHIL WEYMOUTH SAYS THERE WERE NO MAJOR INCIDENTS DURING THE WEEK, WITH A FEW PEOPLE GETTING IRRITATED OVER TRAFFIC BACKUPS, PARKING OR THE WALKING DISTANCE TO THE FAIRGROUNDS.

NEXT YEAR’S BLUE RIBBON MAINE CLASSIC – THE 162ND YEAR OF THE FAIR – STARTS SEPTEMBER 30 AND RUNS THROUGH OCTOBER 7, 2012.
