by Christian Mower on March 15, 2013

A RESIDENT OF GLEN AND FORMER BOARD MEMBER OF THE CONWAY AREA HUMANE SOCIETY HAS FORMED A COALITION OF 12 FULL SERVICE ANIMAL SHELTERS AROUND NEW HAMPSHIRE THAT WILL USE THE INTERNET TO RAISE MONEY AND PROMOTE PUBLIC AWARENESS OF THE WORK BEING DONE BY THE SHELTERS.

ANITA BURROUGHS FOUNDED “NH PETSAVE” AND SHE JOINED NEW HAMPSHIRE GOV. MAGGIE HASSAN AND OTHER ANIMAL ADVOCATES WEDNESDAY AT THE STATE HOUSE AS THE GOVERNOR DESIGNATED MARCH 17 – 23, 2013 AS NEW HAMPSHIRE PETSAVE’S HOMELESS PET AWARENESS WEEK.

BURROUGHS SAYS IT WAS AWESOME BEING WITH THE GOVERNOR AND SHE WAS MOVED BECAUSE HASSAN SPOKE FROM THE HEART ABOUT RESCUING HER OWN DOG.

NH PETSAVE COALITION SHELTERS WILL HOLD A 2-DAY ONLINE FUNDRAISER MARCH 21 AND 22.

VIRGINIA MOORE IS EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE CONWAY SHELTER – A MEMBER OF THE NH PETSAVE COALITION.

SHE SAYS THE ONLINE FUNDRAISER WILL EXTEND THE REACH OF EACH SHELTER OUTSIDE ITS LOCAL AREA THROUGH THE USE OF SOCIAL MEDIA LIKE FACEBOOK, TWITTER AND PINTEREST.

BURROUGHS SAYS THE COALITION WORKS TO IMPROVE THE WELLBEING OF ANIMALS, PROVIDES HOMELESS PETS WITH THE CARE AND SHELTER THEY DESERVE, CONNECTS PEOPLE AND PETS, PROVIDES GUIDANCE AND EDUCATION DURING THE ADOPTION PROCESS – AS WELL AS ONGOING SUPPORT AND TRAINING.

NH PETSAVE MEMBER SHELTERS RESCUE HOMELESS DOGS, CATS, HORSES AND SMALL MAMMALS. IN 2011 MORE THAN 18,000 ANIMALS WERE RESCUED IN NEW HAMPSHIRE.
