by Gair on December 18, 2012

THE SUPERINTENDENT OF SAU NINE SAYS STUDENTS AT KENNETT HIGH SCHOOL IN CONWAY LISTENED TO AN ANNOUNCEMENT AND OBSERVED A MOMENT OF SILENCE MONDAY IN MEMORY OF THE STUDENTS AND ADULTS WHO WERE KILLED FRIDAY AT THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL SHOOTING IN NEWTOWN, CONN.

DR. CARL NELSON SAYS THE TRAGEDY IS BEING DISCUSSED WITH ELEMENTARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS ON AN AS-NEEDED BASIS.

NELSON SAYS “OUR HEARTS GO OUT TO THE VICTIMS AND PARENTS – THE PEOPLE IN NEWTOWN – IT MAKES US CONTINUE TO THINK ABOUT THE SAFEST WAY TO TAKE CARE OF OUR STUDENTS – WE WILL EVALUATE OUR SAFETY PROCEDURES AGAIN AND PUT OUR OWN KIDS AT EASE ABOUT THEIR OWN SAFETY.”

NELSON SAYS SCHOOL AUTHORITIES WILL MEET WITH PARENTS IN BARTLETT THURSDAY TO DISCUSS THEIR CONCERNS.

AND NELSON SAYS HIS STAFF WILL MEET WITH POLICE DEPARTMENTS IN CONWAY, BARTLETT AND JACKSON – DEPARTMENTS HE PRAISES FOR THEIR CLOSE COOPERATION AND SUPPORT OF HIS SCHOOLS, ALONG WITH FIREFIGHTERS – TO “RE-FOCUS OUR THINKING.”
