Police in Fryeburg, Maine are cautioning drivers they could encounter unexpected snow drifts due to high winds after an 18-year-old Denmark, Maine man crashed on Stanley Hill Rd. Sunday afternoon.

Detective Sgt. Josh Potvin says Logan Burnell was driving his parents 2002 Jeep Liberty too fast while southbound around 3:30 p.m. when he lost control on drifting snow, crossed over to the other side of the road and hit a tree.

The road was shut down for more than an hour so Fryeburg Fire and Rescue personnel could extricate Burnell from the Jeep. He was then taken to Bridgton Hospital with what was described as non life threatening injuries and was reported to be in stable condition.

Potvin says Burnell is fortunate he was not more seriously injured and his department wishes him a speedy recovery.
