MAN HELD AFTER THIRD DWI ARREST

OSSIPEE POLICE SAY A 58-YEAR-OLD OSSIPEE MAN IS BEING HELD AT THE CARROLL COUNTY JAIL AND HIS BAIL SET AT $10,000 CASH AFTER BEING ARRESTED THREE TIMES IN LESS THAN THREE MONTHS FOR ALLEGEDLY DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED.

DETECTIVE SGT. BOB KING SAYS PAUL HERY WAS FIRST CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED DWI JUNE 15 (2013) WHEN TESTS REVEALED HIS BLOOD ALCOHOL CONTENT (BAC) WAS ALLEGEDLY .24 PERCENT.

HERY WAS ARRESTED AGAIN JULY 30, 2013 FOR DWI AND CONDUCT AFTER AN ACCIDENT FOR ALLEGEDLY CAUSING A MOTOR VEHICLE ACCIDENT WHILE DRIVING UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL.

IN THAT CASE, KING SAYS HERY WAS ARRESTED AT HIS HOME IN OSSIPEE SHORTLY AFTER THE ACCIDENT AFTER HE ALLEGEDLY LEFT THE SCENE BEFORE POLICE GOT THERE.

KING SAYS HERY – DRIVING A 2007 CHEVY SILVERADO PICKUP – HIT A 2004 CHEVY IMPALA THAT WAS STOPPED IN TRAFFIC ON ROUTE 16. THE DRIVER OF THE IMPALA – 52-YEAR-OLD STEVEN COSTA OF BARNSTEAD, WAS NOT HURT. HERY REFUSED TO TAKE AN ALCOHOL TEST AFTER HE WAS ARRESTED.

HERY WAS ARRESTED AGAIN AUG. 2, 2013 AND CHARGED WITH AGGRAVATED DWI, RECKLESS CONDUCT AND BREACH OF BAIL AFTER HE ALLEGEDLY CAUSED ANOTHER ACCIDENT WHEN HE TURNED OFF ROUTE 16 AND FAILED TO YIELD TO ONCOMING TRAFFIC. IN THAT CASE, HIS SILVERADO WAS HIT BY A HONDAY ODYSSEY BEING DRIVEN BY PETER HAACK OF WEST NEWBURY, MASS. HAACK WAS NOT HURT.

POLICE ALLEGE PRELIMINARY TESTS OF HERY’S BLOOD FROM THE INCIDENT DETERMINED HIS ALCOHOL LEVEL EXCEEDED .30.

HERY IS SCHEDULED FOR TRIAL SEPT. 4, 2013.
