MASS. MAN FOUND GUILTY IN CONWAY SEX CASE

A CARROLL COUNTY JURY HAS FOUND A 49-YEAR-OLD MASSACHUSETTS MAN GUILTY ON ALL CHARGES AGAINST HIM IN CONNECTION WITH ALLEGED SEXUAL ASSAULTS HE PERPETRATED ON A THEN 13-YEAR-OLD BOY ON A CAMPING TRIP IN CONWAY MORE THAN TWO DECADES AGO.

CARROLL COUNTY ATTORNEY ROBIN GORDON SAYS THE 12-PERSON JURY RETURNED GUILTY VERDICTS EARLY FRIDAY AFTERNOON IN SUPERIOR COURT IN OSSIPEE AGAINST SCOTT SENSABAUGH OF TAUNTON.

THE JURY WAS GIVEN THE CASE THURSDAY AND DELIBERATED ABOUT SIX HOURS BEFORE REACHING THE VERDICTS.

SENSABAUGH, WHO WAS 26-YEARS-OLD IN 1990 – WAS ACCUSED OF ASSAULTING THE BOY – A FAMILY FRIEND – IN A CAMPGROUND TENT OFF THE KANCAMAGUS HIGHWAY AND DURING A NIGHT SPENT IN A NORTH CONWAY HOTEL.

SENSABAUGH WILL BE SENTENCED FOR FELONIOUS AGGRAVATED SEXUAL ASSAULT FOR BEING FOUND GUILTY OF MAKING THE BOY PERFORM A SEX ACT ON HIM – AND ON TWO MISDEMEANOR CHARGES FOR SEXUAL ASSAULTS IN THE TENT.

THE FELONY CHARGE CARRIES A POTENTIAL TERM OF 7 AND A HALF TO 15 YEARS IN THE NEW HAMPSHIRE STATE PRISON AND EACH MISDEMEANOR CARRIES A POTENTIAL PRISON TERM OF ONE YEAR. GORDON SAYS SHE WILL ASK FOR THE MAXIMUM OF 17 YEARS.

SHE PRAISES HER LEAD PROSECUTOR IN THE CASE, DEPUTY ASST. COUNTY ATTORNEY SUSAN BOONE, FOR DOING AN EXCELLENT JOB IN THE CASE, AND DETECTIVES IN THE CONWAY POLICE DEPARTMENT – INCLUDING DET. SGT. CHRIS MATTEI, DET. RYAN WALLACE AND DET. SUZANNE SCOTT.

THE VICTIM CAME FORTH WITH THE ALLEGATIONS IN EARLY 2012. GORDON SAYS SENSABAUGH WILL BE HELD AT THE CARROLL COUNTY JAIL UNTIL HE IS SENTENCED. A SENTENCING DATE HAS NOT YET BEEN SET.
