North Conway N.H. – A Massachusetts man is lucky to be alive after falling 50 from Cathedral Ledge. Shortly after 3:00 PM on Sunday Nicholas Mozdzierz a 25 year old man from Somerville, MA was rock climbing at Cathedral Ledge in North Conway when he fell approximately fifty feet to the ground. Nicholas was leading a climb in the area known as the North End. He began having difficulty on the route and was attempting to downclimb when he fell. The force of his fall was so strong that it caused his top two pieces of protection to fail and he ultimately landed on the ground. Nicholas was initially unconscious but regained consciousness and was carried from the woods by members of North Conway Fire and Rescue and transported to the Memorial Hospital in North Conway for treatment. He was wearing a helmet and did not suffer any life threatening injuries.
