THE PUBLIC IS INVITED TO A RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONY TUESDAY AFTERNOON (MAY 7, 2013) AT MEMORIAL HOSPITAL IN NORTH CONWAY TO CELEBRATE ITS NEWLY RENOVATED EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT.

MEMORIAL PRESIDENT AND CEO SCOTT McKINNON WILL BE JOINED AT THE CEREMONY BY THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE MOUNT WASHINGTON VALLEY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, JANICE CRAWFORD – AND OTHER HOSPITAL OFFICIALS.

McKINNON SAYS THE CHANGES INCLUDE A REDESIGN OF THE EMERGENCY ENTRANCE AND ENHANCEMENTS TO THE WAITING ROOM AREA AND NEW PATIENT ROOMS – AND THE INTRODUCTION OF “EXPRESS CARE” SERVICE FOR THOSE PATIENTS WHO DON’T REQUIRE CRITICAL CARE.

PATIENTS ARRIVING AT THE HOSPITAL WILL BE GREETED BY A TRIAGE NURSE – AND IF THEIR CONDITION IS SERIOUS, THEY’LL GO RIGHT TO THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT. THOSE WITH LESS CRITICAL NEEDS WILL BE REGISTERED AND TREATED THROUGH THE EXPRESS CARE SYSTEM.

McKINNON SAYS THE CHANGES WILL ENHANCE THE LEVEL AND QUALITY OF EMERGENCY SERVICES PROVIDED BY THE HOSPITAL – AND IMPROVE WAITING TIMES FOR PATIENTS.

NEW CHANGES WILL ALSO ALLOW THE USE OF ELECTRONIC RECORDS FOR PATIENTS, REPLACING THE OLD PAPER-BASED SYSTEM.

TUESDAY AFTERNOON’S RIBBON CUTTING WILL BE FOLLOWED BY A WALK THROUGH TOUR OF THE EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT – AND REFRESHMENTS.

THE CEREMONY STARTS AT 4:30 P.M.
