MWV CHAMBER ANNOUNCES 2012 ANNUAL BIZ AWARD WINNERS

THE MOUNT WASHINGTON VALLEY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE SAYS THE VALLEY HAS THE HIGHEST CONCENTRATION OF ENTREPRENEURS IN THE STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE, AND IN RECOGNITION OF THAT IT HAS AWARDED ITS 2012 ANNUAL BUSINESS AWARDS.

WINNERS WERE HONORED TUESDAY AT THE 14TH ANNUAL BUSINESS-TO-BUSINESS EXPO AT THE OMMI MOUNT WASHINGTON HOTEL.

THIS YEAR’S ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR AWARD GOES TO BROTHERS JOSHUA AND AARON SNELL – OWNERS OF SERVICEMASTER OF CARROLL AND COOS COUNTIES – FOR CREATING JOBS, DEMONSTRATING INNOVATION AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT. THE SNELL BROTHERS – WHO TOOK OVER AND GREW THE FAMILY BUSINESS AFTER THE UNTIMELY DEATH OF THEIR FATHER – ARE DESCRIBED BY THEIR OFFICE MANAGER AS PERSONIFYING “SPIRIT, TENACITY, LOYALTY AND PERSEVERANCE.”

EMPLOYER OF THE YEAR AWARD GOES TO KIMBERLY JACKSON, GENERAL MANAGER OF NORTH CONWAY’S RESIDENCE INN MARRIOTT FOR HER UNDERSTANDING NATURE AND SUPPORTIVE MANAGEMENT STYLE – AND FOR CREATING A SAFE, INVITING WORKPLACE.

THE NON-PROFIT OF THE YEAR AWARD GOES TO CONWAY’S WHITE MOUNTAIN COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER FOR ITS EFFORTS IN GOING WELL BEYOND THE WORK OF A TRADITIONAL COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER IN SERVING THE NEEDS OF THE UNINSURED AND UNDER-INSURED IN THE VALLEY COMMUNITY.

THE STUDENT ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR AWARD – SPONSORED BY THE MOUNT WASHINGTON VALLEY SCHOOL TO CAREER PROGRAM – GOES TO 17-YEAR-OLD KENNETT HIGH SCHOOL JUNIOR TYLER ROKOWSKI – OWNER OF TYLER’S PROPERTY MAINTENANCE – FOR STARTING HIS OWN BUSINESS THAT PROVIDES GOOD, DEPENDABLE SERVICE.

THE SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARD – GIVEN BY THE MOUNT WASHINGTON VALLY GREEN TEAM TO A BUSINESS WITH A RECYCLING PROGRAM THAT DEMONSTRATES ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICES – GOES TO THE LOCAL GROCER IN NORTH CONWAY FOR ITS OVERALL DEDICATION TO SUSTAINABILITY – AND THE MOUNTAIN VIEW GRAND HOTEL IN WHITEFIELD FOR ITS INNOVATION IN USING WIND POWER – AND COMMITMENT TO ECO-FRIENDLY PRACTICES.
