MWV CHAMBER AWARDS WINNERS

THE MOUNT WASHINGTON VALLEY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE HAS ANNOUNCED ITS 2013 ANNUAL BUSINESS AWARD WINNERS. WINNERS WERE HONORED TUESDAY AT A LUNCHEON AT THE OMNI MOUNT WASHINGTON HOTEL IN BRETTON WOODS DURING THE CHAMBER’S 15TH ANNUAL BUSINESS-TO- BUSINESS EXPO.

THE AWARDS ARE GIVEN EACH YEAR IN RECOGNITION OF THE VALLEY HAVING THE HIGHEST CONCENTRATION OF ENTREPRENEURS IN THE STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE.

MARGARITA GRILL OF GLEN – A VALLEY ORIGINAL RESTAURANT – WAS GIVEN THE ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR AWARD FOR CREATING JOBS, DEMONSTRATING INNOVATION AND COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT. THE CHAMBER SAYS OWNER CORRINE ROBER HAS CREATED A “SHINING EXAMPLE OF SUSTAINABILITY AND FARM TO TABLE CUISINE” AND HER COMMITMENT TO COLLABORATION AND PARTNERSHIPS BETWEEN LOCAL BUSINESSES HAS RESULTED IN MUTUAL PROMOTION FOR RESTAURANTS AND LOCAL FARMERS WHILE PUTTING A FOCUS ON LOCAL PRODUCTS AND PRODUCE. THE CHAMBER CALLS ROBER’S BUSINESS “ECO-COMMITTED” AND PRAISES HER FOR DEVELOPING HER SUSTAINABLE ORGANIC HEALTHFUL LIVING MODEL FOR PROGRESS.

NORTH CONWAY’S MEMORIAL HOSPITAL WON THE EMPLOYER OF THE YEAR AWARD FOR ITS EXCELLENCE IN CREATING A SAFE AND INVITING WORKPLACE, PROVIDING ITS WORKERS WITH SOLID PAY AND BENEFITS AND THE OPPORTUNITY FOR TRAINING AND ADVANCEMENT. THE HOSPITAL USES AN EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT COUNCIL TO OFFER LIAISON BETWEEN MANAGEMENT AND STAFF. THE CHAMBER SAYS ITS CULTURE OF EXCELLENCE PROGRAM DEMONSTRATES ITS DEDICATION TO ITS WORKERS.

THE MOUNT WASHINGTON VALLEY GREEN TEAM PRESENTED ITS SUSTAINABLE BUSINESS OF THE YEAR AWARD TO H. E. BERGERON ENGINEERS OF NORTH CONWAY FOR DEMONSTRATING ENVIRONMENTALLY RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS PRACTICES. THE GREEN TEAM SAYS THE COMPANY HAS A THOROUGH OFFICE RECYCLING PROGRAM, USES DIGITAL FAXING THAT REDUCES PAPER AND TONER USE – COMMUNICATES AND KEEPS RECORDS DIGITALLY – AND IS COMMITTED TO EDUCATING ITS WORKERS AND CUSTOMERS ABOUT SUSTAINABILITY AND ENVIRONMENTAL STANDARDS. H E BERGERON IS RECOGNIZED AS ONE OF THE FIRST COMPANIES IN NEW HAMPSHIRE THAT HAS SOLAR POWERED PARKING LOT LIGHTING.

THE NON PROFIT OF THE YEAR AWARD WENT TO THE VISITING NURSE HOME CARE AND HOSPICE OF CARROLL COUNTY – ONE OF THE BENEFICIARIES OF THE UPCOMING “BE KIND FEST” – FOR ITS PASSIONATE 30-YEAR DEDICATION TO HELP PEOPLE STAY HEALTHY AND LIVE INDEPENDENTLY WHILE MAINTAINING A DIGNIFIED QUALITY OF LIFE – THE CHAMBER SAYS IT SERVES AS A MODEL FOR ALL NON PROFITS.

AND FINALLY, THE STUDENT ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR AWARD – SPONSORED BY THE MOUNT WASHINGTON VALLEY SCHOOL TO CAREER CENTER – WAS AWARDED TO LOGAN LEVITT, AN 8TH GRADER AT JOSIAH BARTLETT SCHOOL IN BARTLETT, IN RECOGNITION OF HER SPIRIT AND WORK IN DESIGNING A PERSONAL LINE OF LIP GLOSS PRODUCTS TO SUPPORT OPERATION SMILE.
OPERATION SMILE IS A VIRGINIA-BASED NON PROFIT THAT PROVIDES FREE SURGERIES AROUND THE WORLD FOR CHILDREN WITH FACIAL DEFORMITIES.
