N. CONWAY LEGION POST HOSTS HOLIDAY DINNER

by Christian Mower on December 21, 2012

IT WAS BACK IN THE 1980s WHEN U.S. NAVY VETERAN JOHN PANDORA FIRST GOT THE OK ABOUT HIS CHRISTMAS DAY IDEA FROM HIS FELLOW VETERANS AT NORTH CONWAY’S AMERICAN LEGION POST 95.

NOW – NEARLY THREE DECADES LATER – PANDORA AND HIS TEAM OF VOLUNTEERS ARE GETTING READY FOR ANOTHER FREE PUBLIC CHRISTMAS DAY DINNER TUESDAY AT THE CONWAY CONGREGATIONAL CHURCH – THE BROWN CHURCH AT 132 MAIN ST.

PANDORA SAYS TURKEYS HAVE BEEN DONATED BY VAUGHAN COMMUNITY SERVICE – AND OTHER FOOD ITEMS FROM SUPERMARKETS AND BAKERIES.

HOT MEALS FOR SHUT-INS WILL BE READY STARTING AT 11 A.M. TUESDAY AND DRIVERS WILL DELIVER THEM TO ABOUT 80 PEOPLE IN THE CONWAY AREA. OTHER VOLUNTEERS WILL STAND BY TO STAFF THE SERVING LINE AT THE CHURCH AT NOON.

PANDORA SAYS EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO COME AND THERE’S NO CHARGE.

FOR MORE INFORMATION OR TO VOLUNTEER TO HELP, CALL PANDORA AT (207) 935-2552.
