by Christian Mower on January 31, 2012

NEW HAMPSHIRE FISH AND GAME OFFICERS ARE WARNING ICE ANGLERS NOT TO LEAVE VALUABLES BEHIND IN THEIR ICE FISHING SHACKS – OR BOBHOUSES – AFTER A SERIES OF BREAK-INS OVER THE WEEKEND.

CONSERVATION OFFICE ALEX LOPASHANSKI SAYS THE THEFTS WERE FIRST DISCOVERED THURSDAY AT MORE THAN HALF A DOZEN BOBHOUSES ON 19 MILE BAY IN TUFTONBORO AND LOON LAKE IN FREEDOM.

LOPASHANSKI SAYS THE THEFTS HAPPENED IN AREAS WHERE VEHICLES COULD BE DRIVEN OUT ONTO THE ICE.

LOCKS WERE PRIED OFF BOBHOUSE DOORS AND ITEMS LIKE POWER ICE AUGURS, HEATERS AND TIP UP FLAGS WERE TAKEN.

LOPASHANSKI SAYS MANY OF THE STOLEN ITEMS HAVE SENTIMENTAL VALUE AS THEY’VE BEEN PASSED DOWN AMONG GENERATIONS OF FAMILIES.

ANYONE WHO NOTICES SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY OR HAS INFORMATION ABOUT THE INCIDENTS IS ASKED TO CALL FISH AND GAME DISPATCH AT (603) 271-3361 OR THE CARROLL COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE AT (603) 539-2284.
