NO ANNOUNCEMENT AFTER FRIDAY LIBRARY TRUSTEE MEETING

by Gair on October 15, 2012

THERE’S STILL NO WORD FROM THE CONWAY PUBLIC LIBRARY TRUSTEES ON HOW THEY WILL DEAL WITH COMPLAINTS AGAINST THE LIBRARY DIRECTOR.

A SMALL GROUP OF TRUSTEES MET AGAIN FRIDAY AFTERNOON AT THE LIBRARY IN ANOTHER SO-CALLED “EMERGENCY MEETING” – SPENDING MORE THAN AN HOUR IN A NON PUBLIC CLOSED SESSION – AND A BOARD MEMBER TOLD SEVERAL PEOPLE WAITING OUTSIDE THE HAM COMMUNITY ROOM AROUND 4:15 P.M. NO PUBLIC STATEMENT WOULD BE MADE.

THE BOARD WAS FACING AN OCT. 14 DEADLINE TO RESPOND TO ALLEGATIONS OF MISCONDUCT MADE BY FOUR LIBRARIANS AGAINST LIBRARY DIRECTOR TARA THOMAS.

ED ALKALAY – THE LAWYER REPRESENTING THE FOUR LIBRARIANS – WHO COMBINED HAVE WORKED AT THE LIBRARY FOR MORE THAN 75 YEARS – SAYS THAT DEADLINE HAS NOW BEEN EXTENDED UNTIL OCT. 22 AFTER THE BOARD REQUESTED MORE TIME TO RESPOND THROUGH ITS LAWYER, DIANNE GORROW.
