NORTH CONWAY MAN ALLEGEDLY SHOWED HATCHET

CONWAY POLICE ARRESTED A 50-YEAR-OLD NORTH CONWAY MAN EARLY FRIDAY AFTERNOON AFTER THE MAN ALLEGEDLY THREATENED THE OWNER OF A SHOP IN NORTH CONWAY WITH A HATCHET.

THE POLICE LOG INDICATES SHORTLY BEFORE 1 P.M. OFFICERS RESPONDED TO A STORE IN NORTH CONWAY VILLAGE AFTER THE SHOP OWNER REPORTED GETTING INTO A PHYSICAL ALTERCATION WITH PHILLIP FRANK LAVERRIERE OF DEPOT ROAD.

THE OWNER TOLD POLICE HE PUNCHED LAVERRIERE AFTER HE REFUSED TO LEAVE THE SHOP – AND LAVERRIERE ALLEGEDLY RESPONDED BY PULLING OUT A HATCHET AND THREATENING THE OWNER WITH IT, BEFORE HE FINALLY LEFT.

POLICE FOUND LAVERRIERE AT HIS RESIDENCE ON DEPOT ROAD ABOUT A HALF HOUR AFTER THE INCIDENT AND ARRESTED HIM.

LAVERRIERE IS CHARGED WITH CRIMINAL THREATENING (USE OF A DEADLY WEAPON) AND FELON IN POSSESSION OF A DANGEROUS WEAPON.
