NORTH CONWAY STORE SELLS MEGABUCKS WINNER

by Christian Mower on October 3, 2013

THE OWNER OF A NORTH CONWAY BEVERAGE STORE SAYS HE HOPES THE PERSON WHO BOUGHT THE WINNING MEGABUCKS TICKET FROM HIM IS A LOCAL.

AS OF EARLY THURSDAY AFTERNOON, MARK KEENAN OF “MDK DISCOUNT BEVERAGES PLUS CIGARETTES OF CONWAY” ON EASTMAN RD. SAYS HE AND HIS STAFF ARE TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHO IT WAS THAT BOUGHT WEDNESDAY’S WINNING TICKET WORTH $2.25 MILLION, WITH THE NUMBERS OF 20-21-28-33-35 AND MEGABALL NUMBER 6.

KEENAN SAYS HE WAS OUT FISHING WHEN HE GOT THE CALL ABOUT THE WINNING TICKET BEING SOLD AND HE WAS TOLD TO REPORT BACK. HE SAYS HE’S BEEN AT HIS LOCATION FOR 20 YEARS AND HIS MOTTO FOR A LONG TIME HAS BEEN “WE’RE DUE.”

ABOUT SIX WEEKS AGO A LOCAL MAN WON A QUARTER MILLION DOLLAR SCRATCH TICKET AT HIS STORE AND NOW THAT SOMEONE’S WON A BIG PRIZE HIS MOTTO IS GOING TO BE “WE’RE JUST GETTING STARTED.”

KEENAN SOLD ABOUT 50 MEGABUCKS TICKETS FOR WEDNESDAY’S DRAWING.

HE SAYS HE’LL USE THE $22,000 HE EXPECTS TO GET FOR SELLING THE WINNING TICKET FOR THREE THINGS – TO “GIVE A HUNK OF IT BACK TO THE COMMUNITY” – MOST LIKELY THROUGH CHARITABLE DONATIONS – TAKE CARE OF HIS STAFF TO MAKE SURE HIS WORKERS HAVE A WONDERFUL HOLIDAY SEASON – AND MAYBE GIVE HIS STORE A FACELIFT.
