OSSIPEE POLICE INVESTIGATE WEEKEND SHOOTING

OSSIPEE POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING AN EARLY MORNING SHOOTING SATURDAY THAT SERIOUSLY INJURED AN OSSIPEE MAN AND RESULTED IN HIM BEING TAKEN TO THE HOSPITAL.

DETECTIVE SGT. BOB KING SAYS SHORTLY BEFORE 1 A.M. ONE OF HIS OFFICERS RESPONDED TO A RESIDENCE ON STONEVIEW RD. FOR A REPORTED SHOOTING AND FOUND PHILIP GENTILE INSIDE THE HOUSE.

KING SAYS IT WAS DETERMINED GENTILE HAD A SELF-INFLICTED GUNSHOT WOUND TO THE FACE AND HE WAS FULLY PACKAGED BY AN AMBULANCE CREW AND TAKEN TO HUGGINS HOSPITAL IN WOLFEBORO.

KING SAYS THERE WERE OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS IN THE HOME AT THE TIME OF THE SHOOTING.

KING SAYS HE UNDERSTANDS GENTILE HAS SINCE BEEN TRANSFERRED TO ANOTHER HOSPITAL FROM HUGGINS AND IS IN SERIOUS CONDITION.

POLICE ARE CONTINUING TO INVESTIGATE THE CASE AND HAVE NOT DETERMINED WHY THE WOUND WAS SELF-INFLICTED.
