A 29-YEAR-OLD OSSIPEE MAN HAS PLEADED GUILTY IN CONNECTION WITH THE APRIL, 2011 MURDER OF A 20-YEAR-OLD WOMAN FROM BRIDGTON, MAINE. A SPOKESPERSON FOR THE CARROLL COUNTY ATTORNEY’S OFFICE SAYS ANTHONY PAPILE PLEADED GUILTY THURSDAY MORNING IN SUPERIOR COURT IN OSSIPEE AND WAS SENTENCED TO 50 YEARS TO LIFE IN PRISON FOR KILLING KRISTA DITTMEYER.

PAPILE HAS ALREADY SERVED JUST MORE THAN A YEAR IN JAIL. HE COULD GET TWO AND HALF YEARS OFF THE MINIMUM SENTENCE OF 50 YEARS IF HE COMPLETES AN ALCOHOL AND DRUG PROGRAM, ANOTHER TWO AND A HALF YEARS CREDIT FOR COMPLETING SOME EDUCATION AND AN ADDITIONAL TWO AND A HALF YEARS OFF FOR EARNING A BACHELOR’S DEGREE. THAT MEANS HE COULD BE ELIGIBLE FOR PAROLE AFTER SERVING 41 AND A HALF YEARS, WHEN HE WILL BE IN HIS 70s.

NEW HAMPSHIRE ATTORNEY GENERAL MICHAEL DELANEY ANNOUNCED LATE WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON THAT PAPILE – WHO WAS ARRESTED MAY 11, 2011 AND CHARGED WITH SECOND DEGREE MURDER IN THE CASE, WOULD PLEAD GUILTY AND BE SENTENCED THURSDAY MORNING.

THE CASE DREW NATIONAL ATTENTION IN LATE APRIL, 2011 WHEN DITTMEYER’S IDLING CAR WAS DISCOVERED EARLY ON A SATURDAY MORNING BY CONWAY POLICE IN A NORTH CONWAY PARKING LOT, WITH HER BABY DAUGHTER ASLEEP IN THE BACK SEAT BUT NO SIGN OF DITTMEYER.

DITTMEYER’S BODY WAS DISCOVERED AND RECOVERED FROM A NEARBY POND A FEW DAYS LATER. PAPILE AND TWO OTHER MEN – 29-YEAR-OLD MICHAEL PETELIS OF OSSIPEE AND 24-YEAR-OLD TREVOR FERGUSON OF TAMWORTH – WERE ARRESTED AND CHARGED IN THE CASE. PROSECUTORS SAID DITTMEYER WAS THE VICTIM OF A DRUG DEAL GONE WRONG.

CHARGES AGAINS PETELIS AND FERGUSON IN THE CASE ARE STILL PENDING.
