THE CHIEF OF POLICE IN BARTLETT IS REMINDING RESIDENTS TO LOCK THEIR VEHICLES AND HOMES AFTER TWO DAYTIME HOME BURGLARIES IN BARTLETT THURSDAY MORNING.

TIM CONNIFEY SAYS HIS DEPARTMENT AND POLICE DEPARTMENTS IN JACKSON AND CONWAY ARE CONDUCTING A JOINT INVESTIGATION INTO THE SEPARATE BURGLARIES THAT HAPPENED IN NEIGHBORHOODS ABOUT SIX MILES APART.

CONNIFEY SAYS THE FIRST REPORT CAME IN ABOUT 11 A.M. THURSDAY AND SIMULTANEOUSLY ANOTHER ALARM FROM THE SECOND NEIGHBORHOOD CAME IN INDICATING A BURGLARY IN PROGRESS.

POLICE RESPONDED TO BOTH HOUSES – ONE IN THE RIVER STREET/COBBS FARM RD. AREA AND THE OTHER IN THE COVERED BRIDGE RD. AREA.

THE CHIEF SAYS THE BURGLARS HAD LEFT THE FIRST HOUSE AND GONE TO THE SECOND HOUSE.

OFFICERS DISCOVERED A DOOR HAD BEEN KICKED IN AT THE FIRST HOUSE AND WHEN THE OCCUPANTS CAME HOME THEY DISCOVERED SOME VALUABLES HAD BEEN TAKEN.

CONNIFEY SAYS THE BURGLARS WERE SCARED OFF FROM THE SECOND HOUSE BY AN AUDIBLE ALARM. HE SUSPECTS TWO PEOPLE IN A COMPACT OR SUB COMPACT CAR WERE INVOLVED – WITH THE DRIVER DROPPING OFF A MALE PASSENGER WHO THEN KICKED IN THE DOOR AND TRIED TO GET WHAT HE COULD.

THE CHIEF SAYS THE BURGLARIES ARE CALLED “SMASH AND GRABS” – AND THEY ONLY TAKE TWO OR THREE MINUTES.

NO ONE WAS HURT IN THE INCIDENTS THURSDAY.

THE CHIEF ASKS EVERYONE TO REPORT ANY UNFAMILIAR PEOPLE OR VEHICLES THEY SEE IN RESIDENTIAL AREAS BY CALLING POLICE AT (603) 356-5868.
