POWER OUTAGE IN N. CONWAY SETS OFF ALARMS

THE ASSISTANT CHIEF OF THE NORTH CONWAY FIRE DEPARTMENT SAYS HIS DEPARTMENT RESPONDED TO THREE FALSE FIRE ALARMS THURSDAY MORNING AFTER A BRIEF POWER OUTAGE IN NORTH CONWAY.

WAYNE McDONALD SAYS HE BELIEVES POWER BRIEFLY WENT OUT ABOUT 10 A.M. AND HIS FIREFIGHTERS RESPONDED TO THE ALARMS AFTER THAT.

TRAFFIC LIGHTS WERE ALSO REPORTEDLY KNOCKED OUT IN NORTH CONWAY, POWER WAS REPORTED TO BE OUT BRIEFLY THURSDAY MORNING IN BARTLETT AND TIME WARNER CABLE SERVICE WAS REPORTED TO BE TEMPORARILY OUT IN THE DAVIS HILL AREA OF CENTER CONWAY.

IT RAINED HEAVILY IN THE NORTH CONWAY AREA OFF AND ON THURSDAY MORNING. IT’S NOT KNOWN IF THE RAIN CAUSED THE OUTAGES.

A PUBLIC SERVICE COMPANY SPOKESMAN SAID HE WAS INVESTIGATING. A PHONE CALL AND EMAIL TO NEW HAMPSHIRE ELECTRIC CO-OP REQUESTING COMMENT WERE NOT IMMEDIATELY RETURNED.
