SEARCH CONTINUES FOR MISSING TEEN

THE CHIEF OF THE CONWAY POLICE DEPARTMENT SAYS THERE’S NO REASON TO BELIEVE THERE’S ANYTHING SUSPICIOUS ABOUT THE DISAPPEARANCE OF A 14-YEAR-OLD NORTH CONWAY GIRL – AND AUTHORITIES ARE STILL TREATING IT AS A MISSING PERSONS CASE.

WHILE A HELICOPTER THAT MAY HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN THE SEARCH EFFORT FOR MISSING KENNETT HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT ABIGAIL HERNANDEZ OF VILLAGE WAY CIRCLED HIGH ABOVE THE CONWAY POLICE DEPT. PARKING LOT – AND FLANKED BY HIGH RANKING OFFICIALS WITH THE NEW HAMPSHIRE STATE POLICE AND ATTORNEY GENERAL’S OFFICE – CHIEF ED WAGNER UPDATED MEMBERS OF THE MEDIA THURSDAY EVENING, OCT. 10 2013, ABOUT THE SEARCH FOR HERNANDEZ.

WAGNER SAYS ABOUT 20 FIREFIGHTERS FROM CONWAY FIRE DEPARTMENTS SEARCHED THURSDAY IN AREAS WHERE HERNANDEZ HAD RECENTLY BEEN SEEN, INCLUDING HER HOME, ACROSS NORTH SOUTH ROAD IN THE AREA OF PUDDIN’ POND, AND AT THE POWER LINES NEAR KENNETT HIGH SCHOOL. THE CHIEF SAYS THE FBI HAD JOINED IN THE INVESTIGATION TO FIND HERNANDEZ AND BRING HER HOME.

SHE WAS LAST SEEN LEAVING KENNETT HIGH SCHOOL AT THE END OF THE SCHOOL DAY WEDNESDAY AROUND 2:30 P.M. NUMEROUS NEW HAMPSHIRE STATE POLICE CRUISERS WERE IN CONWAY THURSDAY AND THE CONWAY POLICE DEPT. PARKING LOT WAS PACKED WITH OFFICIAL VEHICLES, INCLUDING K-9 DOG TEAMS AND OTHER LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES.

WAGNER SAID THE SEARCH WOULD CONTINUE THROUGH THE NIGHT THURSDAY INTO FRIDAY. AUTHORITIES SENT OUT AN AUTOMATED PHONE ALERT ABOUT ABIGAIL THURSDAY ASKING ANYONE WITH INFORMATION ABOUT HER TO CALL CONWAY POLICE AT (603) 356-5715.

HERNANDEZ IS DESCRIBED AS HISPANIC, 5 FEET FOUR INCHES TALL, WEIGHING 118 POUNDS WITH BROWN HAIR AND EYES WITH A LIGHT OLIVE COMPLEXION. SHE WAS LAST SEEN WEARING BLACK YOGA OR STRETCH PANTS AND A GREY SWEATSHIRT. SHE WAS REPORTED MISSING WEDNESDAY BY HER MOTHER, ZENYA HERNANDEZ.

A K-9 TEAM FROM NEW HAMPSHIRE STATE POLICE SEARCHED FOR ABIGAIL WEDNESDAY AND POLICE BELIEVE SHE MADE IT BACK TO HER HOME BEFORE SHE DISAPPEARED.
