Campton, NH -Part of the popular Champney Falls Trail on the Kancamagus Scenic Byway is temporarily closed for trail reconstruction work. According to Forest Service spokeswoman Colleen Mainville the section of the trail that provides access to the scenic Champney and Pitcher Falls, as well as trails leading to the scenic Champney and Pitcher Falls is closed to access by hikers. The trail leading to the summit of Mt. Chocorua will remain open. Maineville said the section of trail is closed due to extensive use and erosion, causing some areas along the trail to become unstable. Reconstruction work is being performed to make the trail more sustainable. The trail leading to the summit of Mt. Chocorua is open. The trail is expected to reopen on August 5th.
