Several Accidents in Maine linked to same Drunk Driver

A Drunk Driver in Maine is being blamed for several accidents involving several vehicles as well as a house. At 8:30 Saturday night the Cumberland County Authorities received several 911 calls of a vehicle on the wrong side of the headed East on Route 302, Roosevelt Trail in Naples Maine. Less then 2 minutes later more calls came in reporting three separate motor vehicle crashes. One vehicle with a women driver and two 14-year-old girl passengers reported being “side-swiped” as it was crossing the Naples Causeway bridge. A second vehicle, driven by a single women, reported being struck by a vehicle in the wrong lane. Then another call came in saying a vehicle went off the road and struck a residential home at the intersection of Roosevelt Trail and Songo School Road. Sheriff’s Deputies investigated the crashes and determined that they were all related and caused by the same vehicle a 2011 Toyota Tacoma pickup Truck. The driver, 66-year-old Barbara J. Thorpe of Casco, was arrested for Operating Under the Influence of Alcohol. All drivers and passengers were not injured. The home was occupied at the time of the collision, however, no was injured as well. Thorpe is being held at Cumberland County Jail on $200 cash bail  for Operating Under the Influence and Leaving the Scene of a Property Damage crash. She is schedule to appear in Bridgton District Court on December 16.
