APRIL IS NATIONAL SEXUAL ASSAULT AWARENESS MONTH AND THE NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT PROVIDES SERVICES FOR VICTIMS OF DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE IN THE VALLEY AREA – STARTING POINT – IS HOLDING SEVERAL EVENTS TO MARK IT.

STARTING POINT’S EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR.SUZETTE INDELICATO SAYS MANY PEOPLE RECOGNIZE HER AGENCY FOR ITS SHELTER AND EMERGENCY SUPPORT LINES BUT A LOT OF PEOPLE DON’T KNOW STARTING POINT PROVIDES SERVICES FOR VICTIMS OF SEXUAL ASSAULT AS WELL.

THE PUBLIC IS INVITED TO WATCH A VIDEO CALLED “THE PURITY MYTH” AT THE CONWAY PUBLIC LIBRARY THURSDAY, APRIL 5 AT 6 P.M.

ON TUESDAY APRIL 10TH STARTING POINT WILL HOLD A PUBLIC FORUM AT CAMP CALUMET IN FREEDOM CALLED “COMMUNITY RESPONSE TO SEXUAL VIOLENCE.”

THE EVENT STARTS AT 6 P.M. A LIGHT DINNER WILL BE SERVED SO PRE-REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.

INDELICATO SAYS NEW HAMPSHIRE WILL MARK CRIME VICTIM’S RIGHTS DAY APRIL 24TH IN CONCORD WITH VARIOUS EVENTS, INCLUDING VIGILS.

SHE SAYS SLIGHTLY MORE PEOPLE ARE ENGAGING THE SERVICES OFFERED BY STARTING POINT AND USING THEM FOR A LONGER PERIOD OF TIME. SHE SAYS THE ECONOMY HAS AN IMPACT ON DOMESTIC AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE VICTIMS.

STARTING POINT HAS MORE SUPPORT GROUPS BUT INDELICATO SAYS THERE IS ALWAYS A NEED FOR MORE VOLUNTEERS.
