STOLEN SUV MAY BE CONNECTED TO OSSIPEE ESCAPEE

MAINE STATE POLICE AND POLICE AGENCIES IN YORK COUNTY, MAINE HAVE JOINED THE SEARCH FOR AN ESCAPED PRISONER FROM THE CARROLL COUNTY JAIL IN OSSIPEE, NEW HAMPSHIRE.

THE CARROLL COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE SAYS NUMEROUS LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCIES FROM NEW HAMPSHIRE – INCLUDING STATE POLICE – AND POLICE OFFICERS FROM EFFINGHAM, OSSIPEE, TAMWORTH, TUFTONBORO AND WAKEFIELD – RESPONDED THURSDAY SHORTLY AFTER 2:15 P.M. TO ASSIST AFTER A REPORT THAT 33-YEAR-OLD DAVID GLENN HOBSON HAD ESCAPED FROM THE JAIL.

CARROLL COUNTY SHERIFF CHRIS CONLEY SAYS HOBSON – WHO WAS AWAITING TRIAL ON A BURGLARY CHARGE IN EFFINGHAM – WAS OUT ON A RECREATION BREAK IN THE YARD THURSDAY AFTERNOON WHEN HE WENT UP AND OVER A HIGH BARBED WIRE FENCE AT THE JAIL.

CONLEY SAYS HE BELIEVES HOBSON WAS INJURED WHILE GOING OVER THE FENCE.

ABOUT 50 OFFICERS AND 4 K-9 TEAMS SEARCHED FOR HOBSON BEFORE DARKNESS FELL.

CONLEY SAYS A BLOODHOUND WAS BACK IN THE WOODS SEARCHING NEAR THE JAIL FRIDAY MORNING AND HIS OFFICE IS INVESTIGATING WHETHER A BLACK SUV STOLEN IN WAKEFIELD EARLY FRIDAY MORNING MAY BE CONNECTED TO THE CASE.

THE SUV IS DESCRIBED AS A BLACK 2004 TOYOTA HIGHLANDER, NEW HAMPSHIRE LICENSE PLATE 148 1896. THE VEHICLE WAS REPORTEDLY LEFT WITH THE KEYS INSIDE THE IGNITION AT A RESTAURANT AT 4774 WHITE MOUNTAIN HIGHWAY IN WAKEFIELD.

HOBSON – WHO IS FROM ALFRED, MAINE – RECENTLY TRANSFERRED TO THE JAIL IN OSSIPEE FROM A JAIL IN WINDHAM, MAINE. HE’S DESCRIBED AS 5 FEET SIX INCHES TALL, WEIGHS 135 POUNDS AND HAS A SHAVED HEAD WITH A GOATEE. HE WAS REPORTEDLY WEARING A GRAY SWEAT SHIRT AND GRAY SWEAT PANTS WHEN HE ESCAPED.

HOBSON IS CONSIDERED DANGEROUS AND ANYONE WHO SEES HIM IS ASKED TO CALL POLICE IN NEW HAMPSHIRE OR MAINE.
