by Gair on November 20, 2013

THE FIRE CHIEF IN TAMWORTH SAYS HE IS INVESTIGATING ALL POSSIBILITIES AS TO WHAT CAUSED A CAMPER FIRE SATURDAY NIGHT IN TAMWORTH – INCLUDING POSSIBLE HUMAN INTERVENTION.

RICH COLCORD SAYS HIS FIREFIGHTERS, NORTH CONWAY AMBULANCE AND TAMWORTH POLICE RESPONDED SHORTLY AFTER 7:30 P.M. TO A RECENTLY CLOSED TOWING REPAIR SHOP CALLED ANDREA’S AND JIMS AT THE INTERSECTION OF OLD ROUTE 25 AND ROUTE 113 AND FOUND A 40 FOOT LONG UNOCCUPIED 5TH WHEEL HOLIDAY RAMBLER CAMPER AT THE PROPERTY THAT WAS FULLY INVOLVED.

FIREFIGHTERS FIRST SPRAYED DOWN A NEARBY GARAGE TO PROTECT IT AND THEN ATTACKED THE FIRE IN THE AREA OF THE CAMPER’S LEFT WHEEL WELL. THEY ALSO REMOVED TWO PROPANE CYLINDERS FROM THE FRONT OF THE TRAILER.

THE FIRE WAS KNOCKED DOWN SHORTLY AFTER 8 P.M. THE CAMPER WAS A TOTAL LOSS.

COLCORD SAYS NO ONE WAS HURT BUT ONE OF THE CAMPER’S TIRES BLEW WHEN A DEPUTY CHIEF FIREFIGHTER WAS WALKING AROUND THE CAMPER. FIREFIGHTERS FROM MADISON AND WEST OSSIPEE ALSO ASSISTED.
