TRI COUNTY CAP SUSPENDS SOME SATURDAY TRANSPORTATION

by Christian Mower on March 25, 2013

THE TRANSPORTATION DIRECTOR FOR THE TRI COUNTY COMMUNITY ACTION PROGRAM – THE SOCIAL SERVICES AGENCY THAT PROVIDES SERVICES TO CARROLL, COOS AND GRAFTON COUNTIES – SAYS SOME WEEKEND TRANSPORTATION SERVICE IS BEING SUSPENDED.

BEVERLY RAYMOND SAYS THE SERVICE INTERRUPTIONS COME AFTER A SPECIAL TRUSTEE AND CONSULTANTS REVIEWED CAP’S SERVICES DURING A RESTRUCTURING PROCESS AND FOUND A LACK OF FUNDING – AND RIDERSHIP – FOR SOME ROUTES.

AS A RESULT, RAYMOND SAYS SATURDAY SERVICE THAT NOW OPERATES BETWEEN WHITEFIELD, LANCASTER AND LITTLETON – THE WEST OSSIPEE TO NORTH CONWAY LEG (CALLED ROUTE ONE) – AND THE WEST OSSIPEE TO WOLFEBORO LEG (CALLED ROUTE TWO) – ARE ALL BEING SUSPENDED.

RAYMOND SAYS MONEY FROM NEW HAMPSHIRE ONLY PARTIALLY FUNDS THE TRANSIT PROGRAMS – AND ALTHOUGH CAP IS EXPLORING OPTIONS TO REPLACE OR RESTORE SOME OR ALL OF THE SUSPENDED SERVICES, FINDING SOURCES OF CASH TO DO THAT WILL BE CRITICAL.
