TWC PEG CHANNELS GO DIGITAL

by Christian Mower on July 22, 2013

TIME WARNER CABLE SAYS IT’S CONVERTING MORE CHANNELS TO DIGITAL FORMAT, INCLUDING PUBLIC, EDUCATION AND GOVERNMENT – OR PEG – ACCESS CHANNELS THAT TYPICALLY CARRY LOCAL TOWN INFORMATION, MEETINGS, ENTERTAINMENT AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS PROGRAMMING.

PEG CHANNELS ON TIME WARNER WILL NOW BE CARRIED IN DIGITAL FORMAT ON THE BASIC SERVICE TIER OF PROGRAMMING. THE COMPANY SAYS THE MAJORITY OF ITS CUSTOMERS HAVE ALREADY PARTICIPATED IN PREVIOUS DIGITAL CONVERSIONS BUT THOSE WHO HAVE NOT YET SUBSCRIBED TO DIGITAL SERVICES WILL NOW NEED DIGITAL EQUIPMENT LIKE A DIGITAL TUNER, TO VIEW THE PEG CHANNELS.

THE COMPANY SAYS IT WILL OFFER THE DIGITAL TUNERS – CALLED A DA – AND REMOTE CONTROLS TO CUSTOMERS WHO NEED THEM TO VIEW THE PEG CHANNELS AT NO COST UNTIL THE END OF 2014, BUT THE EQUIPMENT MUST BE REQUESTED BY SEPT. 23, 2013.

IF YOUR TV ALREADY HAS A DIGITAL SET TOP BOX SLASH ADAPTER, QAM TUNER OR CABLE CARD, YOU WILL CONTINUE TO HAVE ACCESS TO PEG CHANNELS WITHOUT THE NEED FOR ANY ADDITIONAL EQUIPMENT.

STARTING JAN., 2015 EACH ADAPTER WILL COST 99 CENTS A MONTH.

TIME WARNER CABLE SAYS IT HAS PROVIDED ITS CUSTOMERS WRITTEN NOTICE OF THE CHANGE. FOR MORE INFORMATION, CALL 1-855-286-1736 OR SEE THE WEBSITE AT www.twc.com.
