TWO ARRESTED AFTER CONWAY CAR BREAKS

CONWAY POLICE SAY TWO MEN HAVE BEEN ARRESTED AND CHARGED IN CONNECTION WITH A NUMBER OF EARLY MORNING BREAK-INS TO VEHICLES PARKED NEAR GREEN MOUNTAIN RIFLE BARREL IN CONWAY.

LT. CHRIS PERLEY SAYS OFFICERS GOT A CALL SHORTLY AFTER 2 A.M. WEDNESDAY FROM A MAN REPORTING ITEMS HAD BEEN TAKEN FROM HIS VAN IN THE PARKING LOT OF THE RIFLE BARREL MAKER. WHEN OFFICERS ARRIVED AT THE LOT AT 153 WEST MAIN ST. THEY DISCOVERED SEVERAL VEHICLES HAD BEEN BROKEN INTO AND A .45 CALIBER HANDGUN WAS ONE OF THE ITEMS TAKEN.

OFFICERS FOUND THREE PEOPLE WALKING NEARBY AND BASED ON THEIR INTERVIEWS TWO OF THEM WERE ARRESTED AND CHARGED.

THEY INCLUDE 19-YEAR-OLD TYLER DIAS OF CAROL ANN WAY IN NORTH CONWAY – HE’S CHARGED WITH THEFT FROM A MOTOR VEHICLE THAT ALLEGEDLY INCLUDED TAKING THE GUN – AND 21-YEAR-OLD DANIEL J. HURD OF WHITE MOUNTAIN HIGHWAY IN CONWAY IS CHARGED WITH CRIMINAL LIABILITY FOR THE CONDUCT OF ANOTHER. POLICE ALLEGE HURD ACTED AS A LOOKOUT DURING THE BREAK-IN WHEN DIAS ALLEGEDLY STOLE THE GUN.

BOTH SUSPECTS WERE DUE TO BE ARRAIGNED IN COURT IN CONWAY WEDNESDAY MORNING. PERLEY SAYS BOTH WERE ALREADY OUT ON BAIL FROM PREVIOUS OFFENSES THAT INCLUDE ALLEGED THEFTS FROM VEHICLES.

IN ANOTHER INCIDENT TUESDAY AFTERNOON, CONWAY POLICE ARRESTED A 35-YEAR-OLD HUDSON, NEW HAMPSHIRE MAN WHO WAS ALLEGEDLY DRIVING WHILE INTOXICATED AFTER FIRST GETTING A REPORT AROUND 2 P.M. A BLUE 2010 4-DOOR HONDA CIVIC WAS HAVING LANE ISSUES AND WAS BEEN DRIVEN ERRATICALLY ON ROUTE 16 IN NORTH CONWAY.

OFFICERS AND NORTH CONWAY AMBULANCE RESPONDED TO THE AREA NEAR ELVIO’S PIZZA AND DISCOVERED WILLIAM F. RANNEY OF HEMLOCK ST. – THE DRIVER OF THE HONDA – ALLEGEDLY PASSED OUT IN THE CAR NEAR THE RAILROAD TRACKS, AFTER HE HAD APPARENTLY STOPPED FOR A PASSING TRAIN.

IN ADDITION TO DWI, RANNEY IS ALSO CHARGED WITH TRANSPORTING AN ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE.
