VALLEY AREA KIDS PARADE IN NORTH CONWAY

by Gair on May 1, 2013

MORE THAN 200 KIDS ARE EXPECTED TO TAKE TO THE STREET IN NORTH CONWAY LATE THIS MORNING FOR THE 25TH ANNUAL CELEBRATION OF YOUNG CHILDREN PARADE.

THE PARADE WAS STARTED BY JACKIE SPARKS – THE CO-FOUNDER AND EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE NON-PROFIT SOCIAL SERVICE AGENCY CHILDREN UNLIMITED – WHO WANTED TO FIND A WAY FOR THE COMMUNITY TO CELEBRATE “THE WEEK OF THE YOUNG CHILD” – AN ANNUAL EVENT CREATED BY THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION FOR THE EDUCATION OF YOUNG CHILDREN.

SPARKS ORGANIZED A GROUP OF OTHER DIRECTORS AND TEACHERS FROM LOCAL PRE-SCHOOLS AND CHILD CARE CENTERS AND SINCE THEN, HUNDREDS OF CHILDREN HAVE PARADED IN NORTH CONWAY EACH SPRING.

MOST OF THE PARADERS ARE UP TO 6 YEARS OLD – AND SOMETIMES THEY MARCH DRESSED IN COSTUMES AND WEAR SILLY HATS – SPARKS SAYS THE ONE THING THEY ALL DO IS HOLD HANDS.

THE PARADE STARTS AT 10:30 A.M. AT THE NORTH CONWAY COMMUNITY CENTER AND CIRCLES AROUND SCHOULER PARK.

CHILDREN UNLIMITED OFFERS FAMILY CENTER EARLY SUPPORT AND SERVICES, INTEGRATED PRE-SCHOOL AND CHILDCARE, PEDIATRIC EVALUATION AND TREATMENT, THERAPEUTIC SERVICES AND A FAMILY RESOURCE CENTER.
