WEATHER CREATING SLIPPERY ROADS IN CONWAY AREA

CONWAY POLICE SAY THE ROADS AROUND CONWAY WERE ESPECIALLY SLIPPERY WITH BLACK ICE FORMING ON THE ROADS WEDNESDAY.

SGT. TERRENCE SPITTLER SAYS THERE WERE SEVERAL SLIDEOFFS AROUND TOWN, NONE WITH SERIOUS INJURY, ALTHOUGH ONE PERSON HAD TO BE EXTRICATED FROM A VEHICLE LATE WEDNESDAY MORNING NEAR THE CONWAY SCENIC OVERLOOK ON ROUTE 16.

SPITTLER SAYS TOWN AND STATE CREWS WERE OUT SANDING THE ROADS.

REPORTS INDICATE ICY CONDITIONS IN BARTLETT WEDNESDAY AFTERNOON – WITH AN EMERGENCY RESPONDER DESCRIBING CONDITIONS THERE AS “SHEER ICE” – AND SOUTH OF CONWAY IN TAMWORTH.

SEVERAL VEHICLE ROLLOVERS WERE REPORTED BUT NO SERIOUS INJURIES.
