WINTER STORM WARNING ISSUED FOR VALLEY AND W. MAINE

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM WARNING FOR THE VALLEY AREA AND WESTERN MAINE UNTIL 5 O’CLOCK WEDNESDAY MORNING.

 THE WARNING AREA INCLUDES CARROLL AND COOS COUNTIES IN NEW HAMPSHIRE – AND OXFORD AND CUMBERLAND COUNTIES IN MAINE.

 FORECASTERS SAY THE SNOW MAY MIX WITH OR CHANGE TO SLEET AND FREEZING RAIN EARLY THIS EVENING IN MANY INTERIOR AREAS, WITH THE PRECIPITATION EXPECTED TO REMAIN MOSTLY SNOW IN THE MOUNTAINS.

 ANYWHERE FROM 4 TO 10 INCHES OF SNOW IS EXPECTED – DEPENDING ON THE TRACK OF THE STORM – WITH UP TO A QUARTER INCH OF ICE POSSIBLE WHERE FREEZING RAIN OCCURS. THIS WILL CAUSE TRAVEL TO BE TREACHEROUS AND SCATTERED POWER OUTAGES ARE POSSIBLE.
